Comfort Maximized - From New Plants to Air Conditioner Service

December 11, 2015

With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s barely any daylight, it can be hard to always feel like your home is a comfortable place to be. That extends far beyond doing annual air conditioner service too, because there are a variety of things you can do to help make your home feel cozy even when your air conditioner is operating at its peak.

Here are a couple that we find very helpful here in Bend:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, can mean quite a bit of air is sneaking out of your home. Not to mention that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is making its way outside also. There are a variety of fixes that can help you close those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are relatively simple fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
  • Swap your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most crucial things you can do to not only boost your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your energy costs. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can handle it yourself. It’s typically recommended to change your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its performance, but some could last even longer.
  • Get plants. Indoor plants can offer a host of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they could potentially better your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of toxins that are emitted from a variety of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already taking care of, but it never hurts to have a reminder. Having air conditioner service done annually helps you be sure that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be fixed so your comfort isn’t in trouble.

It doesn’t have to feel hard to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 541-238-2797  to hear about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
